Umang Democratic School

Developing a happy, healthy, and democratic society is impossible without education. Considering this viewpoint Disha Trust set a mission of ‘quality education for the betterment of society. And to achieve this goal Disha Trust started Umang Democratic School. Our initiative was supported by some social activists and progressive people. UMANG is not just a school, but a center of ‘self-reliance, self-respect and happiness’, where children have the freedom to enjoy their childhood. And along with doing this, they understand different aspects of life.

Disha trust believes that by changing modalities of teaching; education can contribute best to establishing a democratic society. For reaching this goal understanding concepts should be preferred over cramming. Children should be taught to develop the capability of decision-making and analysis of the situation.

This should be done in a fearless, pleasant atmosphere. There should be no discrimination on behalf of caste-creed, status, region, color, or gender. And instead of competition; the practice of cooperation should be preferred. With adherence to school, children should be able to grow as self-dependent learners. At UMANG

We Believe

  1. Understanding and respecting Democratic values (Equality, secularism, justice).
  2. To develop a democratic system.
  3. To organize various social, educational, and cultural activities for understanding different aspects of life.
  4. To work as per the learning pace and interest of students.
  5. To design and assess the syllabus as per the surroundings, requirements, and interests of students.
  6. Inclusive, unanimous, and cooperation-based education.
  7. Despite school fees; contributions by parents, society, and organizations are preferred. No child should be devoid of education in the dearth of money.
  8. Education could not be business; it is not a subject of profit-making. Keeping this in mind UMANG reserved 50% of seats for the deprived section of society and financial contributions for the rest of the 50% are carried by the parents themselves.

As per our understanding, any fit child (mentally sound) cannot be incompetent in learning. Every child can learn, we just need to understand his/her interests and provide an atmosphere to catch the pace of self-development. Preserving the joy of childhood, significant learning should be propagated.
