Vocational Training Centres:
Disha, through its Vocational Training Centres initiative, has worked with girls on building their capacity through skill enhancement in tandem with market requirements providing training in basic computer skills, spoken English and tailoring.
Beti Utsav
We celebrated ‘Beti Utsav’ to celebrate the birth of a girl child to change the gender norms and highlight the achievements of women and encourage people to shift the conservative patriarchal mindset of the girl child being inferior by celebrating the daughters in the community.
Theatre and Cultural Events
We have organised several events at and beyond Umang for the local community to spark their engagement with the social issues that concern them. We use theatre to build visceral connections and reach out to people to sensitise and have conversations with them. We have also organised several book exhibitions and held discourses around constitutional values.
